How Close are we to the Boardwalk and Amusements

The Barefoot Mailman is 8 walkable blocks from the north end of Ocean City’s famous boardwalk. Amusements and rides are located at the south end of the boardwalk, approximately 3 miles from the hotel.  Jolly Roger Amusements and water park is located on 30th Street, on the bayside, which is within walking distance of the Barefoot Mailman.

Arrival & Departure

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. for all rooms. If you arrive early, you may stop in at the Front Desk to register your car and pick up your parking permit. You will have full use of the Barefoot Mailman’s amenities. To avoid a prolonged wait for your accommodations, please plan to arrive closer to the appropriate check-in time.

Pets should not and cannot be kept in an automobile on Barefoot Mailman Hotel property or in Ocean City, MD. Please, while traveling to Ocean City, Maryland with your pet, do not plan to arrive prior to check-in time to avoid a prolonged wait for your accommodations.

Parking

We have free parking and guarantee one parking space per room. Parking is unassigned, but we also have a gated lot and additional auxiliary parking. Additional cars should be registered at the Front Desk to receive a guest pass. Please be aware that overflow parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed.

Beach Equipment

We operate a beach stand located on 37th Street at the Castle in the Sand Hotel, just over the dune. Beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards can be rented here from Memorial Day through Labor Day. They accept cash, or you may charge rentals to your room. Rentals are by the day or weekly.

Pet Policies

We invite you to bring your family pet with you on your next vacation at The Barefoot Mailman. Your pet will be well received by our animal-loving staff. Treats and goodie bags will be offered for pets at check-in! Located on our property is our dog walk area and there are a number of nearby parks and places to take your pet. Before May and after September, dogs are welcome on Ocean City’s beach. Daily pet charges are $15 plus tax per night per pet. Weekly pet charge is $75 plus tax per week per pet.

Beach Food & Beverage

Wait service on the beach is provided during peak season by Coconuts Beach Bar  & Grill staff, located at our sister hotel, The Castle in the Sand, between 36th and 38th Street blocks. Lunch hours are approximately 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Beach service is weather permitting. Please be advised that only alcoholic beverages purchased from Coconuts Beach Bar & Grill, which are served in our signature Coconuts logo cup, are allowed on the beach within the Castle in the Sand’s service area. Beer bottles and cans are not permitted on the beach. Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach.

Towel & Laundry

Towel service is provided daily. Towels are provided for hotel guests inside the pool area for pool use. Towels are not provided at the beach so please plan to bring beach towels with you. We have guest laundry facilities located within the Castle in the Sand Hotel’s Waverley Building. The machines are on the lower level of the south end of the Waverley building and are coin-operated accepting quarters only. Our Front Desk can make change and provide any detailed information needed.

Methods of Payment

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Please note that we must have a valid credit card on file or a $300 security deposit if you choose to pay by cash, traveler’s check, or money order. THIS POLICY IS FIRM. Without a credit card on file, you will not be permitted to charge Castle Beach Stand rentals to your room. The remaining balance on a reservation is collected at check-in. At check-in, we do not accept personal or business checks. If you plan to make payments by check, we must receive the check at least 10 days prior to your arrival to allow time for it to clear and process in our accounting department.

Barefoot Mailman Policies

Cancellation Policy

Reservations must be cancelled two weeks (14 days) prior to your arrival to receive a full refund. Deposits for canceled reservations are refunded in the form in which they are taken.

Rebooking

Rebooking is not automatic. If you would like to rebook, please ask at check-out or call after your stay. We can only rebook you in the same room type, for the same time period and same length of stay. You will receive a letter at the end of the year to review your rebooked reservation and at that time you will be able to make changes based on our availability.

Convention Center, Performing Arts Center

The Barefoot Mailman is located on 35th Street, a half mile away from the Roland E. Powell Convention Center and Performing Arts Center. Please call for group or individual reservations if you will be attending an event at the Convention Center or Performing Arts Center.

Smoking

In accordance with the Maryland Clean Air Act of 2007, all of our guest rooms are now non-smoking; however, smoking is permitted outdoors on our balconies.

Room Service

The Beach House Restaurant, Take A Dip Ice Cream Shop and Coconuts Beach Bar and Grill are all located one block away at our sister property, The Castle in the Sand Hotel. Room service is not provided.
